How to install the Skype identifier.

What is the Skype identifier?

The Skype identifier is a non intrusive tool created by Mr. Yoichi what needs to be installed on the (Micrrosoft Windows) computer that allows the user to easily archive calls made and received from Skype. The identifier hooks itself to Skype so it can read the duration of the conversation and the number called.

When the user wants to, it automatically adds a new call in PicaPica and redirects the user there to put the details there.

Installing the identifier

Activating the module alone isn’t enough to get everything working just yet. To actually capture the Skype call details you need to install a tool called the ‘PicaPica Skype Identifier’.

Note: Although we only have a Microsoft Windows version of the tool, we are working on a cross platform version of the tool.

Follow the following steps to download & install the Skype identifier. Make sure your computer meets the following requirements:

• You are running a modern version of Microsoft Windows (XP or later).
• You have Skype installed.
• (Optionally) .NET Framework 4.0

Note: If you do not meet the minimal requirements, this module cannot be used.

First of all you begin by downloading the Skype Tool here: PicaPica Skype Identifier, and when the download is completed extract all the files in the compressed file and start ‘setup.exe’ by double clicking it.

When the set up has started, click on ‘Next’ to go further with the installation.

Click on ‘Next’ to process through the screens.

When the installation is complete, you can close the set up and start the PicaPica Skype Identifier through your ‘Start Menu’ – ‘All Programs’.
Note: Before starting up, make sure Skype is running and logged in.

At the first-time start-up of the tool you are required to grant permission with Skype to access the data. When you started up the tool go to Skype and wait until Skype asks for you to grant permission to the tool. Click on ‘Allow access’.

After allowing the application in Skype, it is necessary to fill in the details in the box on the right of the tool. Fill in your own username, password and host id in (the part of your URL before the .pica2.org).

When done, click on ‘Save configuration’ to save the configuration. You can minimize the application to let it ‘sit’ in the system tray, which is the section next to the clock on the task bar.

When minimized, double-click on the icon to get the tool in view again. Use the red cross to shut the tool down. After a Skype call you will now get the option to archive the call in PicaPica, so you can achieve the maximum in customer service. After successfully adding the call in PicaPica, the tool will open a browser and redirect you to the just made record where you can edit the call.
